Comprehensive Financial Planning

A written plan that connects your income, savings, taxes, and goals into one coordinated picture.

Where this starts

Nobody decides to end up with seven accounts and no plan

It happens one reasonable decision at a time. The 401(k) got set up the week you were hired and hasn't been looked at since. The savings account is doing a job nobody actually assigned it. The insurance was bought for a life you've since outgrown. Each piece made sense on the day you added it — and no one has ever looked at the whole shelf at once.

That's the situation this work exists for. Not a crisis, not a mess — a set of good decisions that have simply never been asked to agree with each other.

Individually, every piece looks reasonable. Together, they don't add up to a plan.

The work itself

Every dollar gets a job, and every goal gets a price

We start with a full inventory — accounts, debts, benefits, insurance, everything on one map — then trace the cash: where it actually goes, not where it feels like it goes. From there, each goal gets priced. Retiring at 62 costs something different than retiring at 66; the lake house costs something different if the tuition years overlap it.

The interesting part is the trade-offs. Change one number — the savings rate, the retirement date, the college budget — and watch what it does to everything else. That's the conversation most households have never been able to have, because the pieces lived in different places.

What one plan coordinates

Three jobs that usually live in three different places.

Cash flow & goalsWhat comes in, what goes out, and what it's all for.
Taxes & accountsWhich dollars live where, and what each move costs.
Protection & estateWhat happens when something goes wrong — or when you're gone.

Most households have all three — handled by different people, at different times, who have never compared notes. The plan is where they finally agree.

Illustrative structure only. Figures shown are not typical or predictive.

What you keep

A plan on paper — and a standing reason to revisit it

You leave with a document, not a feeling: what you own, what each piece is for, what to do next, and what we agreed to watch. When life changes — and it will — the plan is the thing we change, deliberately, instead of the accounts drifting apart on their own again.

Hypothetical

A household with two incomes, three retirement accounts from old jobs, a 529 opened by a grandparent, and term insurance bought a decade ago. Nothing was wrong with any single piece — but the savings rate was set by habit rather than the goals, and two accounts had been quietly duplicating the same holdings for years. Mapping it all in one place changed three decisions in the first meeting.

Hypothetical scenario for illustration. Not an actual client. Individual circumstances and results differ.

Asked in almost every first meeting

Do I need a plan if I already have investments?

Often that's exactly when it helps most. Investments answer "where should this money sit." A plan answers what the money is for, when you'll need it, and how much of it you actually need — which is what determines whether the investments are appropriate in the first place.

How long does it take?

Typically a few weeks from the first meeting to walking through a finished plan, depending on how quickly documents come together and how much there is to coordinate.
